What is your Business Portfolio?
Tax Boss Business Portfolio ensures your business (small or big) is structured the right way through IRS compliance, EIN numbers, state compliance per your business's location, Profit and Loss logs, Business Bank, Expense logs. My goal at TBS is to provide the resources to grow and scale your business effectively.
Do you offer a referral fee if I refer someone to your company?
Yes, all clients referred to Tax Boss Solution who are approved by the IRS will earn you $50.00.
Documentation & Filing Requirements
What are the correct required documents to file?
- Current photo ID or DL (not expired)
- Social Security cards for taxpayer and dependents
- W2 and all other supporting documents (no last pay stubs)
- 1095-A Marketplace insurance form (if applicable)
- 1098-T school tuition form (if applicable)
- IP PIN (if applicable)
- Mortgage interest form (if applicable)
- Childcare documentation (if applicable)
What if I don’t have all the required documents to file?
Then you will not be able to file your return with TBS.
I purchased a home last year. Do I need to file that on my taxes?
Yes. If you're paying interest on the home, the bank will mail you a Mortgage Interest form, which you must include on your return.
What if I forgot to give you a W2 that I forgot about?
You will need to file an amendment to adjust your tax refund. Please note that amendments for missing documents may result in an IRS penalty.
Refunds & Processing
How long does it take to get my refund quote once I submit all required documentation?
48-72 hours, depending on the peak of the season.
How long will it take to get my refund once it’s e-filed and accepted by the IRS vs. mailing it in?
E-filing: ~21 days for processing with funds rapidly deposited.
Mail-in: 6-8 weeks for processing, with the IRS mailing a check to your provided address.
What portal can I check the status of my refund on?

When should I check the status of my refund?
Wait at least two weeks after IRS acceptance before checking. Frequent checks may trigger a brief freeze to protect against identity theft.
Who is responsible for the refund updates?
It is the taxpayer's responsibility to inform the Tax Agent of weekly updates.
My friend filed her refund after me and received it already. Is something wrong with my refund?
No, the IRS does not follow an exact order for refund releases.
Identity Verification
How do I know if I need to verify my identity with the IRS?
The IRS will mail you a letter with an access code, which you must provide for verification.
How do I verify my identity?
You must create an account on the IRS portal (https://www.irs.gov/). Once logged in, follow the prompts to upload your ID, enter your AGI, refund amount, and banking information.
What if I don’t successfully verify my identity?
If you input incorrect information, you must wait another 9 weeks before trying again. Ensure your Tax Agent helps you through the process if needed.
Once I verify my identity, how long until I receive my refund?
The typical timeline is 9-12 weeks, but it can vary.
Amended Returns
How do I check the status of my amended return?
Check the status of your amended return here: https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return.
How long does it take to receive an amended return?
Processing typically takes 15-20 weeks, after which the IRS releases the funds.

How do I know if I’ve been approved for my cash advance?

Filing Status & Dependents
What determines whether I can file as Head of Household?
You must have a dependent who lived with you for more than half the year, and you must have provided at least 70% of the household expenses.
Can I file a dependent who did not live with me?
No, the child must live with you for more than half the year to qualify for the child tax credit.
I had a baby in December. Can I file them as a dependent?
Yes, as long as the baby was born by December 31, you can receive the full child tax credit.
I have a disabled adult living with me. Can I file them as a dependent?
As long as the dependent is not your parent, you may receive a partial credit.
Someone filed my child as a dependent without my knowledge. What should I do?

Special Situations
What should I do if I owe back Child Support?
The tax payer is still required by law to file. The IRS will take your refund to cover the balance. Any remaining funds will be sent to you.
What are common reasons the IRS will take my refund entirely?
The IRS will offset your refund for outstanding student loans, child support, medical bills, or back taxes.
I borrowed money from my 401k this year. Do I need to report it?
Yes, your investment company will mail you the required form to include on your return.
I haven’t filed my taxes in 5 years. Can you help me?
